Why do pass plus?
So why do Pass Plus? Pass Plus is a training scheme for new drivers. Its aim is to improve your driving skills and make you a safer driver. It can also lead to insurance discounts.
The scheme has been designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), with the help of the motor insurance and driving instruction industries, to develop your skills and knowledge in areas where you may have limited experience.
The course can be taken any time and covers a minimum of 6 hours of tuition. There is no exam at the end but each module is assessed by the trainer. Certain insurers will allow a 10% discount on insurance premiums for successful Pass Plus students.
An indicator of effectiveness
As an indicator of its effectiveness, a recent survey of L test candidates carried out by ORC for the DSA, showed that those who had taken Pass Plus:
- 93% felt more confident on the road.
- 89% considered that their driving skills had improved.
Jack says: “I feel that the pass plus really helped me feel safe and comfortable with motorway driving and brushing up on things I felt uncomfortable with during my normal lessons. I feel its worth the money for the lessons as I feel I achieved and learned something from them. “
