Why is it important to mock test?

Why is it important to mock test?

Realistic mock testing is an important part of your preparation as a learner in order to pass the driving test. As an experienced ADI and a Diamond Advanced Driving test examiner, I can put you through a mock test that will feel real. It will last forty minutes, cover an actual driving test route and cover one manoeuvre and possibly an emergency stop.

Why is it important to mock test? Many pupils take their test too early and are not ready. For one thing it can save you allot of money – your test will cost £62 + cost of 2 hr slot! So rather than take a real test its much better to take some mock tests first! I guarantee that: if you can’t pass my mock test – then you won’t pass the real test!

Learning to drive in my 50’s

I only started to learn to drive in my 50’s and it didn’t come naturally to me. I had two instructors at first who were ok and took me to a certain level but it was when I started with Paul that I really began to make progress and reach test standard.

Zero minors – last test of 2014!

Thomas (looking a bit serious because I don’t think he can believe it), passed his driving test at the Lee-On-The-Solent with zero minors two days before Christmas. What an amazing achievement and my last test of the year! Watch the video below to hear in his own words how its all gone.

Never too late to drive

Gareth’s first lesson with the AA Driving School

It’s never too late to drive! Do you remember your first time? www.confused.com follows a nerve-racked 32-year-old Gareth as he meets his instructor from the AA driving school  and takes the wheel for the first time.

So what happens on a first lesson with me?

A couple of days before your first lesson I will contact you by phone and make sure everything is ok for the lesson.

On the day of your lesson I will pick you up from the agreed location promptly at the time agreed. Remember, you will need to bring both parts of your provisional driving license for me to examine. If correct, I will ask you to read a number plate at the required distance for your eyesight check. Please bring your glasses for driving if you need them!

I will then drive us to a car park and we will begin the first lesson, which is called “cockpit checks and controls”. In this lesson, I will explain everything you need to know about the car: setting up the seat, mirrors etc and what all the various controls are for. This normally takes about half an hour.

Then, we get into exciting bit of the lesson! Don’t worry, I will demonstrate everything first before getting you to have a go. First, you will learn how to move off and stop the stop the car safely. We will learn to steer (much easier in a car park than on the road),  and use the clutch to edge forward.

Hopefully, if this all goes well, I will then drive you to “learner land” ( a quiet road) and for the last half hour we will have short experience driving on the road! At the end of the lesson, I will drive you back home.

So, it’s never to late to drive. Pick up the phone or text me on 0778 055 3078
